Scott Kamenitsa, Jr., Schmidt Kamenitsa, LLP (“SK Law”) builds upon the foundation and history of Lane & Burke (formerly Lane & Rusu) to continue the tradition of providing quality legal services to their clients and maintaining a lasting relationship with clients for years to come.

Tracie Schmidt
Tracie (Logar) Schmidt is a graduate of McDonald High School, in McDonald, Ohio. She graduated summa cum laude from Kent State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management. She then went on to obtain her Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law.
A seasoned estate planning and business attorney, Tracie has focused her career primarily in the areas of Probate Estate Administration, Estate and Business Succession Planning, General Business Law, and Employment Law, including Fractional Human Resources counsel and services. She is also a VA Accredited attorney and assists veterans and their families with available benefits.
Tracie dedicates her time not only to her clients and family, but also to her community. She serves on several boards and organizations, providing her time, knowledge and expertise. She serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for Meridian Healthcare, Canfield Swim and Tennis Club and the Canfield Baseball Club.
She has dedicated much of her time and effort to professional affiliations, including the Mahoning County Bar Association, (President (2017-2018) as well as continuing to serve on the Estate Planning and Taxation, Social/Events, and Law Day Committees. Tracie is also a member of the Mahoning-Shenango Valley Estate Planning Council, of which she is a Past President and current board member, is a Past President (2015) of the Mahoning-Shenango Planned Giving Council, and is a member of the Youngstown Business and Professional Women’s organization (President, 2013-2014). She is also an active member of Round Table 12 and a member of the Ohio State Bar Association Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Section.
Tracie has been recognized for her efforts both within her community and at the State level. She was named by her peers as a Rising Star in Estate Planning from 2014 – 2018 by Super Lawyers, placing her in the top 2.5% of Estate Planning lawyers statewide. She was awarded with the Distinguished Service Award by the Mahoning County Bar Association, and was awarded the Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under by the OSBA.
Most importantly, she serves as a mom and super fan of her two children, Kaitlyn and Drew, cheering them on in their respective sports and activities on a daily basis. Tracie, her children and her husband, Chris, reside in Canfield, Ohio.

Scott Kamenitsa
Scott was born and raised in Canfield and graduated from Canfield High School. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Ohio University. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctor with a Certificate in Litigation, concurrently earning a Master of Business Administration from the University of Akron.
An accomplished and versatile trial lawyer, Scott has litigated cases ranging from business dealings and employment matters to trust contests and real estate disputes. As a recognition of his efforts in Court, Scott was selected by his peers as a Rising Star in General Litigation from 2023 through the present, by Super Lawyers, placing him in the top 2.5% of litigation lawyers statewide.
Scott’s efforts are not solely limited to the Courtroom. He leverages his litigation experience to bring a pragmatic and effective approach to business deals, real estate transactions, and liquor permitting. Scott also brings his unique experience as the managing member of Kambrook Seal-Coat, Ltd., an asphalt sealcoating and asphalt maintenance company, to his legal practice. In this role, Scott utilizes the practical knowledge he has gained from his own experiences to support clients in their own operations.
Scott also makes time for serving others, having served as Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Mahoning County Area Salvation Army and as legal counsel for Canfield Strong, a non-profit organization focused on improving and renovating Canfield High School’s athletic facilities. Scott also serves on the Civil Service Commission and Income Tax Review Board for the City of Canfield. He is active in the Mahoning County Bar Association, serving as its President, as well as having previously served on the Board of Trustees, the Law Day Committee, the Social Committee, and the Certified Grievance Committee. Additionally, Scott gives back by serving as a coach for the University of Akron School of Law’s nationally recognized mock trial program.
Scott resides in Canfield, Ohio with his two sons, Thomas and Joey, who have yet to grasp the concept of what a lawyer is (and have yet to annunciate their l’s properly, but are trying to grasp those concepts nonetheless).
